Twenty5Eight have some very fond memories of the wonderful city of New York. It’s the city in which we had Guinness induced conversations that led to the Twenty5Eight that we have today. 21 new clients, quadrupling sales turnover and over 150 new team members; it’s been an incredible ride this past 12 months. Having the opportunity to head back to New York is always a pleasure but, none more so than being invited over by some significant US based companies who feel we can add value to there channel plans for the UK and Europe.
It was a crazy few days (and nights) and a trip that really qualified for us that our range of services are seen of value to customers old and new. When household names are asking Twenty5Eight for advice on how to manage the cultural anomalies of the British retailer and consumer, it is indeed flattering and humbling in equal measure. As a bunch, we are a pretty grounded lot and just meeting leaders in the Wellness & Health sector gives us a huge sense of pride. In addition, it’s always a pleasure to hang out in very cool offices with some of the worlds finest designers too, so all things considered it was a pretty inspiring tour.
It’s gotta be said that the eclectic nature of briefings had my old man brain on its toes but, it all seemed to go pretty well:
- Our digital engagement service was high on the agenda. Clearly brands are seeing the opportunity to build community and brand awareness via social media but, making content appropriate for local markets and regional nuances is something we fully appreciate and help existing clients with, so this was great to share some of the insight we have picked up over the past 4 years of managing high level tech and sports activations. By tapping into our pool of influencers, we clearly offer localised value to some significant brands who are currently using global traditional PR methods
- Providing support services for brands distributors of choice appears to be an interesting area of growth. Q4 always raises challenges of cutting through all the noise surrounding peak and I am still chuckling now about the quote from one of the senior VP sales guys I met “Neil we need [distributor name] driving the trucks and you guys driving the sell through!” I think it’s fair to say distributors do a lot more than just drive trucks but, it was an interesting quote from someone who clearly wanted to see some ROI in peak.
- The other business opportunity we have been presented with deserves a shout out to one of our field team, who interacted with an owner of a very significant brand whilst they were working as a brand ambassador for one of our UK clients in Heathrow airport. The “traveller” in question thought that our brand ambassador was a full time employee of the company we were representing and was amazed at how eloquent and confident our brand ambasssador was. This is testament to our search and selection process and the outstanding training given by our partner. This encounter has led to us securing the brand ambassador work for the UK and also supplying the event staff for European consumer shows, so a massive shout out to Cherelle, there’s a cheeky little bonus coming your way as a token of our gratitude.
Obviously while our mantra is working on behalf of the client 25/8 not 24/7, we also live by the phrase of “work hard, play harder”. With a combination of business drinks and dinners and meeting up with friends and family, this was an epic one and we’re already looking forward to the next trip!
Who knows, maybe Twenty5Eight is coming to America ?
